How Our Products Work

How Our Products Work

We provide a wide range of glow-in-the-dark products to increase nighttime visibility, reduce risk, and boost your overall safety. Our mission is to change how people feel about outdoor activities when the sun goes down. We want you to feel safer and more at ease. Our state-of-the-art technology provides one of the best available photoluminescent products on the market. While focused on safety, we want you to be able to enjoy any activity you choose in the darker hours. Whether you want to go night fishing, hiking at night, camping, or working in poorly lit zones - we want to provide you with tools that will bring some light to the dark. But, how do they work? Read on below for a quick look at our process.

Photoluminescence

Our glow products are embedded with specialized photoluminescent glow pigment crystals that are charged by UV and ambient light. These particles get excited by UV or ultraviolet light. We refer to the side with the pigment as the “Coated Side”.  A suitable charge will allow our products to hold a glow for 8-10 hours. Depending on the fabric you choose, the glow is typically green but can also be blue. The glow comes from competing with light from its surroundings. The overall glow is about 1220 mcd/m2 in dark conditions. With a full charge, our products will hold an ASTM 2073 standard glow for hours at a time. These standards are required for emergency signage to be properly visible, so you can trust that our products are very bright and reflective. The pigments slowly release the stored energy, which enables them to glow and still be vibrant hours later.

Charging

Our glow products do not need any special charging tools or equipment to get charged enough for optimal use. In bright sunlight, our products charge in as little as ten minutes! But, they can also be charged by fluorescent and incandescent lights.  Even black lights can charge up the glow. You will gain a quicker, more powerful charge using UV light-providing sources. Full Spectrum lights provide the best charge.

It is important to ensure the “Natural Side” is the side you focus your light source on. If direct sunlight is not an option, our products need at least 20 minutes near a 40w incandescent bulb (or similar) to fully charge up to produce a significant glow. A 20-minute charge with black lights can keep products glowing for about 3 hours.

If you want to use glow products for theatrical effects, charge them immediately before taking the stage and keep the audience in low light levels to have their eyes best adjusted.

Safety

Our glow-in-the-dark products are for safety and have been tested to match or exceed safety standards themselves. All our products are free of toxic chemicals and hazardous materials and safe to wash in cold water. Our products are built to last, require low maintenance, require no batteries, are easy to charge, and remain vivid for long hours. The photoluminescent properties should last almost indefinitely, so you can keep on using our products for years to come.

Our commitment to safety is our guarantee that we deliver the highest quality glow-in-the-dark safety products that enhance personal safety by increasing night visibility of people, objects and danger.
